There had been transition of the position of McKnight from that of a bookkeeper to a CEO, a Chairman and a President (Hill et al., 2020). This transition had been possible because of the ways in which appropriate and effective moves had been made to capitalize on opportunities by McKnight. One example is that of the capitalization of the opportunity to produce and sell waterproof sandpaper by 3M (Hill et al., 2020). There had been interest shown and invested by McKnight to diversify from one product to another for 3M.
